Beer and wine event returns to NT waterfront: Online Beer and Wine
NORTH TONAWANDA — Craft beer and wine aficionados will be able to sample over 100 beers and dozens of wines when the Brews and Wines on the Water event returns to the city this weekend.
Back for its second year, the event is expected to bring thousands people to the North Tonawanda waterfront for a day of drinks, food, live music and more. The event will be presented by WGR 550, Liberty Cab and Jim’s Steakout and sponsored by NOCO Express and the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute.
“After last year, I know that walked away from here and were very excited about what happened,” said Allan Davis, of WGR 550. “We had people coming from southern Ontario, from all over Niagara, Erie County, all over Western New York, (that) came and enjoyed a great afternoon. As a result of that, we’re excited to be back here for a second year.”
He added that this year’s beer selection has about doubled over last year’s selection and that the event is expecting 15 to 20 wineries to participate.
The event will feature a selection of local breweries and wineries, as well some participants traveling to the event from either U.S. coast. There will also be vendors offering non-alcoholholic beverages as well as food, snacks and other items. NT Mayor Arthur Pappas said “there’s something for everyone.”
“We couldn’t be happier to have this event for the second year in a row here in North Tonawanda,” Pappas said. “We’re very proud of the park, we’re very proud of the area and we are proud to be a destination for this kind of event.”
While guests at the event drink, eat and enjoy the waterfront, they’ll also be entertained by a selection of local musicians. The lineup includes The Strangers, guitarist Joseph Michael Mahfoud and Tiger Chung Lee.
“The local music scene here is something I’ve always admired,” Davis said. “As a result of that, we’re always able to get great bands.”
