Buy Beer Online: Platform Beer Co. raises the bar with its Cleveland-based beers

We’ve been seeing quite a few new breweries’ beers recently being distributed in the area.

It’s always exciting to try a new line and figure out what styles they offer in can, bottle and keg.

One common theme among the two breweries I’ve written about in the past few weeks — Modern Times Beer and Vault Brewing Co. — and the brewery I’m introducing you to today, Platform Beer Co., are that the can art is designed with simple, clean lines.

While I dig creative can art as much as anyone, these cleanly designed cans all are easy to read: You know what you’re drinking, what the style is, and in the case of Platform Beer Co., what the ingredients are.

There are no gimmicks and nothing to hide behind. It’s just beer done well with no pretenses.

Platform Beer Co. is based in Cleveland, has a second taproom location in Columbus, Ohio, and has a Cleveland production facility just to churn out beers for distribution, which you should find yourself having the pleasure of enjoying.

Drew Carey, comedian, sitcom star of his self-titled show and Cleveland native, is quoted in a story as saying of the city, “Do you think all the best ideas are only from people who live here? That’s ridiculous. I don’t buy it.”

Folks at Platform Beer Co. seem to agree.

The platform this brewing company speaks of is in regards to a level playing field that encouraged passionate homebrewers to fulfil their dreams of starting a brewery business.

Even the logo art shows grains as the filament in a light bulb along with the city skyline: A brewery that’s a place for a collaboration of ideas. So collaborative, in fact, that the original business model was focused around Platform being an incubator for other craft beer startups.

What started out as a small part of a thriving Cleveland beer scene is now capable of producing 30,000 barrels of beer annually, and we get to reap the reward of their innovation and hard work here in Lancaster.
